LETTER TO MY FRIEND LIVING WITHOUT A LEGACY
I do hope your weekend was awesome but as we look forward to this new week, I write to you. I write to share the message of leaving behind a legacy.
Living with legacy means living life not just for the oxygen flowing into your nostrils, it means living with a purpose, with discipline, courage and resilience so much so that people you know and those you dont remember you for it. It simply means leaving behind you a good mark.
The idea of death becomes an original and real factor as you age. It is inevitable and whatever you do would be automatically regarded as the legacy you left behind. If a man begged all through his life, they seem to say, the beggar died. People would always have something to say, good or bad depending on the impression you give them.
Death aside, we migrate from one place to another so we could in fact define ourselves to be sojourners. As we do sojourn from one place to another, what legacy do we leave back to those we met and those who might come?
Indeed some people live life like snakes across the rock, you do not know when they come and when they leave because they make no impact. A worse case scenario happens when two men, Jake and Jack, walk into a company seeking a job on the same day, they both get hired and ten years later, they both resign. On getting to the firm, everyone knows Jack but only the computer knows Jake.
Obviously, Jack made an impact but Jake practically passed through the walls. You can leave behind both a good and a bad legacy and people will forever remember you but leaving behind nothing is also worse. Men who fulfil purpose are always remembered even if it’s just a tiny detail. If you aren’t being remembered, you aren’t fulfilling purpose.
This letter however, is to tell you about living with a good legacy in mind, leaving a good footpath that the heavens and the earth would be grateful you came. It is something we owe daily. We have got one shot and we must make the best out of it.
Friend, we probably need to pinch ourselves off our comfort zone, some of us aren’t having any comfort at all, we need to strive to make a strong impact. It’s a call to action. Those who left legacies weren’t so comfortable, they had a push. The push was stirred up by no one but themselves. You are in greater control of how you help yourself.
Till we meet again, dear friend, live life while placing the word “impact” in mind. You cannot change the entire world but you can at least change yours by fulfilling purpose. Never walk through the walls. Do ensure to send us your questions and suggestions to our mail at [email protected] or [email protected] please do drop your comments below. An awesome conversation is highly opened. Have an awesome week!
