Tonight I spread my mat outside
To look at the stars and draw inspiration.
This space was the reason I chose this house.
I sigh at the quiet, the beauty of the stars,
The chirping of crickets, the peace.
I subconsciously swipe at mosquitoes.
They won’t interrupt, I’m ready with my wrapper.
The sound of generators coming on have shattered the quiet.
But I think I can still do it.
I mentally shut them out and look up again,
This time to see an owl starring down at me.
I can almost swear those eyes look like Esohe’s- my landlady’s daughter.
I hastily wrap up my mat,Leaving stargazing to the people Abroad.
